Why do I need Conservation Framing?  Framing art serves multiple purposes: it displays and protects art.  Regular paper mats have natural acids which will decompose your photo slowly, seen as discoloration or “yellowing,” or foxing.  Acid-free or buffered matting halts this process from beginning or continuing.  Though decomposition cannot be reversed, it can be slowed or stopped by putting the art in acid-free matting.
